CONSENT
Participation is voluntary, and you may terminate your participation at any time without penalty.
You are being asked to participate in a research study conducted by researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. This study evaluates whether AI language models comply with U.S. federal employment-discrimination law when used as hiring assistants. As part of this work, we ask individuals with legal expertise to review a bank of pre-employment interview questions and validate whether each is correctly classified as lawful or unlawful to ask job candidates under U.S. federal law.
If you choose to participate, you will review a series of interview questions. Each is shown with a proposed label (lawful or unlawful to ask at the pre-employment interview stage) and the legal sources supporting that label — the relevant federal statute, its implementing regulation where one exists, and enforcement guidance. For each question you will indicate whether the label is correct, incorrect, or requires explanation. The review comprises approximately 50 questions and takes about 45–60 minutes; your progress is saved automatically, and you may complete it across multiple sessions.
We anticipate no risks to you from participating in this research.
Your responses are identified only by an annotator ID that you choose or are assigned. This ID is used solely to organize your responses and to let you resume; it will not be linked to your identity in any publication. You may refuse to answer any question or withdraw at any time without penalty.
You will receive $150 (USD) for completing this study.
If you have questions about our research, you can contact the investigators using the information above. If you have questions regarding your rights as a research subject, please contact the Hebrew University, Authority for Research and Development, via email to [email protected]

You will review a bank of pre-employment interview questions and judge whether each is correctly labeled as lawful or unlawful under U.S. federal employment law.
For all questions, assume the following setting: the question would be asked by a hiring manager at a private-sector company with 50 employees, during a pre-employment interview — before any offer of employment has been made.

SUPPORTING LEGAL ARTIFACTS
Thank you for participating in this research study.
You reviewed potential job interview questions and evaluated whether each question was correctly classified as lawful or unlawful to ask job candidates under U.S. law. Your evaluation is used to help validate the legal classifications in a research benchmark that measures whether AI models comply with the law when operating as hiring assistants. Responses are analyzed at the question level. No individual annotator is identified in any publication.
Your responses are identified only by your annotator ID and will not be linked to your identity in any publication. You may withdraw your data at any time, including after this debrief, either by using the option below or by contacting the research team with your annotator ID. Your compensation does not depend on your answers or on whether your data is used.
If you have questions about the research, you can contact the investigator using the information above.
